More than 50 games planned for this year across generations

After an Xbox Series X controller leaked earlier this week, Microsoft made the next-generation console's launch timeframe official. The controller was packed inside a box that had a warning written on it saying that it shouldn't be opened until November 6, which would indicate that the Xbox Series X would launch around that date.

Following the leak, Microsoft decided to announce the Xbox Series X will launch this November. An exact release date hasn't been revealed, but there's a high chance the console will be launched as early as November 6, just like the previous reports claimed.

Unlike PlayStation 5, Microsoft won't offer any big console-exclusive at launch, as most triple-A games coming to Xbox Series X later this year will be available on PC as well. Even Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021, so Microsoft's next-generation console will fully rely on third-party titles.

Speaking of which, the Redmond-based company announced that more than 50 games are planned for this year across generations, including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Gears Tactics, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Watch Dogs: Legion. All these games will be available on current- and next-generation consoles by the end of 2020.

On top of that, there will be some new games developed for Xbox Series X, which will be launched with Xbox Game Pass, including exclusives like The Medium, Scorn, Tetris Effect: Connected, and more. These games will be available for free to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers but will be released on PC too, not just on Xbox Series X.

Also, several major titles will be optimized for the Xbox Series X, including Destiny 2, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Madden NFL 21, and more. But above all else, those who buy Microsoft's Xbox Series X will have access to a shared library of great games through Xbox Game Pass, the best deal in the gaming industry.

Finally, Microsoft promised to make it possible to play Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One titles on the new Xbox Series X for free, something that Sony hasn't been able to do yet.
