Microsoft has recently confirmed the existence of another Windows 10 Mobile device that will launch in 2016 and will most likely join its revamped mid-range phone lineup.

Microsoft's Chief Marketing Office Chris Capossela has revealed during the Windows Weekly podcast that the company is working on the Lumia 650, but he has refused to provide any specifics or information on when we can expect the device to see daylight.

While a debut is planned for early 2016, information regarding its specs is quite limited, and the only things we have for now are rumors that cannot be taken for granted.

Possible specs

And yet, word has it that the Lumia 650, which will be in essence a mid-ranger or a low-end phone, will come with a 5-inch display and be powered by a Qualcomm processor, most likely the 210.

This is the first indication that Microsoft is indeed planning to go for either an affordable mid-range model or even another low-end phone, as the Snapdragon 210 really lags behind the performance of the 808 or the 810 available on its flagship devices, Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

At the same time, pundits have said that the Lumia 650 could come with a 2,000 mAh battery and offer at least 8 GB of storage space. What's surprising, however, is that Microsoft might not offer microSD card support, which is kind of odd, given the fact that this feature exists on the majority of Lumia phones.

The phone could debut with a camera of around 8 megapixels and feature a modest front camera for selfies and video calls, but will most likely come without a dedicated physical camera button as its more expensive siblings.

For the moment, the only thing we know for sure is that the Lumia 650 is on its way, but it's hard to tell whether any of these specs are accurate or not. And yet, it seems that Microsoft's new Windows 10 Mobile device lineup is taking shape quite nicely, so 2016 is going to be a very interesting year for fans of the platform.
