The modern Windows transformation continues

Microsoft continues the working on overhauling the interface of Windows, and as we’ve known for a while, the integration of the Fluent design in the operating system is a long-term priority.

The whole thing, however, takes place gradually, and Neowin has observed that the most recent preview build shipped by Microsoft to users enrolled in the Windows Insider program in the Dev channel comes with Fluent in more parts of the OS.

More specifically, Windows 11 now comes with modern refinements in the Windows shut down UI and the Windows Recovery screen that users can load when they reset Windows.

A work in progress

Microsoft hasn’t publicly announced these changes, but their introduction isn’t necessarily surprising. The company is slowly but surely expanding the use of Fluent and Mica across Windows, and every new preview build comes with smaller or bigger changes on this front.

In the meantime, the software giant is also working on finalizing the rollout of Windows 11, as the company says it wants all eligible devices to be provided with the new OS by the summer of this year.

Back in January, Microsoft said that the rollout was already in the final stage.

“The upgrade offer to Windows 11 is entering its final phase of availability and is designated for broad deployment for eligible devices. Since the launch of Windows 11 in October, we have seen strong demand and preference for Windows 11 with people upgrading their eligible PCs at twice the rate we saw for Windows 10. Based on this trend, we are advancing the pace of the rollout faster than we originally announced and entering the final phase of availability for Windows 11 ahead of our initial plan of mid-2022,” Microsoft said at that point.

A new Windows 11 feature update is projected to launch later this year as well.
