Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 preview build comes with further integration of OneDrive into the Settings app of the operating system.

Users are therefore provided with OneDrive storage alert and subscription management at the operating system level.

“In March, we enhanced the Microsoft 365 subscription management experience in Windows 11 Settings and added the ability to view your payment method on your Microsoft 365 subscription in Accounts within Settings,” the company said earlier this week when it released the new preview build.

“Starting with today’s build, we have begun enabling OneDrive Standalone 100GB subscriptions in the Accounts page within Settings, similar to the Microsoft 365 subscriptions. This will allow you to view your recurring billing, payment method, and OneDrive storage usage within Windows 11. Additionally, if you are close to or above your OneDrive storage limit, you will be informed on the same page,” Microsoft explains.

The new feature is part of Windows 11 preview build 25145 available for the Dev channel.

How it works

Thanks to the integration of further OneDrive options in the Settings app of Windows 11, the accounts section in the operating system now displays information on the current subscription, such as the recurring billing details, the payment method, and the current storage usage.

Furthermore, you are allowed to see detailing about the billing options and change the payment methods, with a dedicated link also allowing users to manage the storage.

Worth knowing, however, is that not all insiders are seeing the new OneDrive integration into the Windows 11 Settings app right now. This is because the company uses a phased approach, even for insiders, so the availability will be expanded as Microsoft collects additional information on the reliability of this feature.

No ETA is available right now, but the feature should be live for everybody in a few weeks.
