The Canary version of Edge for Android gets coupon support

Microsoft is working on improving its browser on mobile devices as well, and the latest Canary version of Microsoft Edge comes with a big new feature.

It’s support for coupons, a tool that’s already available on the desktop and which provides users with a notification whenever they are shopping online and a coupon is found.

As spotted by Leo Varela, Microsoft has introduced a new flag called “Shopping site Coupons” in Microsoft Edge Canary on Android which when enabled displays a small coupon symbol in the address bar when a coupon is found for a specific product.

The new feature is available in Edge for Android build 92.0.884.0, and needless to say, it’ll take a while until it makes its way to the stable version of the browser.

Microsoft Edge coupons

Microsoft originally announced support for coupons in Microsoft Edge back in November, with the company at that point promising to bring it to Android “soon.”

“I’m super excited to announce our new coupons feature in Microsoft Edge for desktop and mobile, which makes finding coupons faster and easier since the feature is built into the browser,” Liat Ben-Zur, Corporate Vice President, said at that point.

“When I visit a retailer site, Microsoft Edge will alert me if there are any coupons available for that site. I can view the list of coupons at any time by clicking on the blue shopping tag in the address bar. The real magic is that it proactively surfaces these coupon codes when I’m ready to checkout; all I have to do is copy and paste a code or have Edge auto-populate and try them all to determine which one will save me the most.”

No specifics have been provided right now as to when Microsoft wants to make this feature available for all users on Android.
