Along with Sticky Notes and other helpful stuff

The latest beta version of Microsoft Launcher for Android comes with a digital health feature similar to Apple’s own iPhone Screen Time and Google’s Digital Wellbeing app.

The launcher can thus display the screen time and usage time for each app installed on the device, along with extra information like how many times you unlocked the device. You can see stats for the last 24 hours or the entire week.

All these details are shown in a card right in the feed of the launcher, but they can be further expanded on a separate page to see more information per each app.

Additionally, Microsoft Launcher 5.1 beta introduces support for Sticky Notes. Previously available on Windows 10 exclusively, Sticky Notes is now a cross-platform application, and after launcher on the web and as part of OneNote, beginning with this release, it’s available on Android as well.

You can thus view your notes if you are logged in with the same Microsoft account used on your Windows 10 PC, add new or delete the existing ones. There’s no information right now as to whether Microsoft wants to release Sticky Notes as a stand-alone app on Android.

Cortana improvements in this update

Microsoft Launcher is also getting support for tasks from Microsoft To Do, Outlook, and Skype, and all entries are displayed in the To Do card right in the feed.

As expected, Cortana is getting its very own share of improvements, with the digital assistant now boasting an updated card that offers support for traffic details and multi-commitments. Cortana also becomes available in the es-es market, while those in en-us get “Hey Cortana” enabled as a beta feature.

This is the last major update of Microsoft Launcher in 2018 and the public rollout should happen by the end of the year. Bugs will continue to be released in the coming weeks, ahead of the official release of version 5.1 to all Android devices via the Google Play Store.
