Microsoft has released another update for Office insiders on Android, as the company previews the August 2018 rollout ahead of the public launch.

With this new release, Office for Android reaches version 16.0.10730.20005, and it includes several new features for Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

First and foremost, Office gets zooming improvements in this latest update, and documents can be adjusted to fit the entire screen with no wasted space. This is without a doubt a welcome touch, especially on devices with smaller displays where taking advantage of the entire screen estate is essential.

PowerPoint improvements

PowerPoint users receive two different updates, and both of them improve usability within the app. First and foremost, PowerPoint now supports adding sound and video right from the phone or tablet, which makes editing documents even easier. To do this, simply open a slide and then in the ribbon head over to Insert > Video/Audio to select the media that you want to add to the presentation.

As an alternative, you can also create media on the go and insert it into a presentation by clicking the option called Camera under Insert > Video.

PowerPoint is also getting improved zooming experience in this update. “Pinch out to get a closer look at your slides whether you're editing or just reading, and easily flip between Portrait and Landscape orientation as you review your presentation,” Microsoft explains.

At the same time, there are also improvements for Microsoft Outlook. Starting with this update, Outlook users can reply to a message in the context of a conversation, while also being able to access files shared in a Group straight from the Group Details page.

Keep in mind that these new features are currently part of the Office Insider preview, so if you install them, some bugs may be experienced. The pull rollout should begin later this month.
