Microsoft has officially kicked off a new bug bash for Windows 10 users, as the company is getting ready to take the wraps off a new feature update later this month.

Specifically aimed at Windows insiders, this Bug Bash invites users to try out the latest builds of Windows 10, look for bugs and report them to Microsoft, all by completing various quests as part of the program.

The Bug Bash is projected to come to an end on May 17, so there’s a chance additional bug fixes would be released next week before the rollout of Windows 10 version 21H1 to production devices kicks off in the last days of May.

Windows 10 version 21H1

Worth knowing is that Windows 10 version 21H1 won’t be a massive release, as it’ll come in the form of a quality update with the focus on under the hood improvements.

“Based on feedback and learnings during the past year of extensive remote work, learning and play, version 21H1 will be delivered with servicing technology (like that used for the monthly update process and how 20H2 was delivered),” Microsoft said.

“Windows 10, version 21H1 will have a scoped set of features improving security, remote access and quality. The features we are releasing in this update are focused on the core experiences that customers have told us they’re relying on most right now. So, we optimized this release to support our customers’ most pressing needs.”

In other words, the next big release on the roadmap is Windows 10 version 21H2, which is due in the fall and likely to bring a massive overhaul as part of the Sun Valley treatment. This means Microsoft wants to refresh Windows 10 from the ground up, with a visual update to include everything from the taskbar to the Start menu and windows.
