Microsoft has released a new preview build for users enrolled in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 18936 comes with three major improvements, but also with several other changes, refinements, and fixes, which you can check in full in the box after the jump.

The first substantial update is that the Your Phone app, which allows the mirroring of Android phones on Windows 10 devices, now supports more Surface models, including Surface Laptop, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 5, Surface Pro 6, Surface Book, and Surface Book 2.

Then, this new Windows 10 build comes with an option to quickly create an event right from the taskbar. The calendar flyout features a new option to add an event or reminder.

The build could fail to install for some

And last but not least, beginning with this build release, users can make their devices passwordless and thus obtain a more seamless sign-in experience.

“Enabling passwordless sign in will switch all Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device to modern authentication with Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, or PIN. Don’t have Windows Hello set up yet? No problem! We’ll walk you through the setup experience on your next sign-in,” Dona Sarkar, chief of the Windows Insider program, wrote in the release notes of the new build.

The passwordless sign-in experience is only available for a limited set of insiders, and Microsoft says it will continue to roll it out to more users in the coming weeks.

There are also several known issues, and the most critical causes the build to fail to install for some users with error c1900101. Microsoft says the problem is caused by a compatibility bug with a storage driver on the device, and a fix is already in the works, albeit no specifics can be provided and no temporary workaround exists.
