New Surface devices to launch early next month

Microsoft has started sending out invites for a new Surface event that will take place on October 2 with an agenda that’s yet to be determined.

Called “A moment of your time,” the press conference could be used to introduce new Surface models or upgrades to the existing lineup.

While it’s all just a guess right now, one of the devices that could see daylight at this event is an LTE version of the Surface Go.

Microsoft launched the Surface Go earlier this year as the company’s latest product aimed at the education sector. Surface Go is the smallest and most affordable Surface model in the company’s lineup, combining lower-spec hardware with the premium quality of the Surface brand.

However, Surface Go is missing a feature that could be essential for educators: LTE support. Instead, the device boasts only Wi-Fi, limiting users’ options when it comes to connectivity.

If this is the case, expect the new model to go on sale by the end of the year, as Microsoft probably wants to take full advantage of the holiday season.

Surface Studio upgrades likely

But in addition to the Surface Go, the Redmond-based tech giant could also announce upgrades to devices that have already been around for a while, as it’s the case of the Surface Laptop or the Surface Book 2.

The latter could receive a performance upgrade just like the first generation, as well as a black version, as some rumors swirling around the web lately have suggested.

Surface Studio could be another model that may get a facelift next month.

As for entirely-new products, don’t expect any too exciting, and certainly don’t expect Andromeda to show up at this event. Microsoft could drop a hint or two about this device, but eventually, no new device is likely to see daylight. More exciting news in this regard, however, is projected to be announced next year.
