Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Pro 3, but this time this version is only shipped to devices running Windows 10.

Surface Pro 3 may not be the latest-generation Surface model, but it continues to be one of the most popular, with its hardware still running Windows 10 and the majority of applications smoothly.

With this firmware update, Microsoft Surface Pro 3 gets improvements in key areas like the Bluetooth radio adapter, whose software is bumped to version 15.68.9125.57 for tougher system security.

Furthermore, the Surface system drivers are updated to version 2.0.1630.0 to improve system stability and resolve Device Manager error states, as Microsoft itself explains.

And last but not least, Surface Pro 3 wireless AC network controllers are now at version 15.68.9125.57, with network adapters benefiting from improved system security on Windows 10.

Surface firmware updates

As it happens in the case of all new Surface firmware updates, this version is available from Windows Update, and you can install it right away with just a simple check for updates. However, firmware updates roll out in stages to devices across the world, and in case it’s not there for you just yet, check again in a few hours.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was announced by Microsoft in mid-2014 and launched with Windows 8.1 Pro. However, it can be upgraded to Windows 10 and by the looks of things, no major impact on system performance is recorded, despite being a four-year-old device.

The Surface Pro 3 shipped in several hardware configurations, and the top-of-the-range version featured an Intel Core i7-4650U processor paired with 8GB RAM. The available storage options at that point were 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, with a microSD card slot also offered for extra storage.

You can download the new firmware updates right now, and don’t forget to recharge the device or keep it plugged in during the whole process.
