Microsoft has recently announced a mysterious event for March 30, with the whole thing to happen online due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The software giant obviously hasn’t shared any details regarding what we’re supposed to see going live at the event, but the company did share the tagline, which is “Learn about how to be more productive across work, life and family.”

Many believe this new event will witness the introduction of a consumer subscription for the Microsoft 365, something that was expected to happen in the spring anyway, so at first glance, the March 30 event kind of makes sense.

New Surface models?

On the other hand, others previously said a spring event would be used to introduce new Surface devices, including the highly-anticipated Microsoft Surface Book 3.

However, new Surface models are rather unlikely at this point given the coronavirus outbreak, especially as Microsoft typically wants the audience to experience the magic behind its new products live.

Microsoft is one of the tech giants struggling with the impact of the new virus, as the company has already canceled several events and moved to digital versions to reduce the risk of infections. Build is without a doubt the biggest victim, as this is the largest annual Microsoft tech conference, which the company uses to present a series of new products, including new features coming to Windows 10.

Earlier today, Microsoft also announced that it’s closing all Microsoft Store locations across the world due to the COVID-19 spreading so fast everywhere, with the Microsoft.com online store to continue to operate normally going forward. The stores will remain closed until further notice.

More information about what Microsoft is expected to announce at the March 30 show is likely to reach the web in the coming two weeks as we get closer to the virtual event.
