Microsoft is betting big on Microsoft Defender as an essential part of its security software arsenal, so the company has been working non-stop on making it available on as many platforms as possible.

Today, the company announced that Microsoft Defender entered a preview stage not only on PC but also on mobile devices running Android and iOS.

In other words, the security features bundled with Microsoft Defender can now be brought to smartphones as well, all thanks to dedicated apps that users can download right away.

Worth knowing, however, is the preview is exclusive to the United States for now, and Microsoft hasn’t shared an ETA as to when it could be released in more languages and new regions.

Currently in preview stage

“Windows Insiders can download and preview Microsoft Defender, a new Windows, Android, and iOS app that helps protect you and your family’s data and devices against online threats. Key to Microsoft Defender is the ability to view and manage your online security in one central dashboard view, across your devices, and your family member’s devices. Plus get added malware and phishing protections on your mobile devices. The ability to view your family’s devices is currently only available in the Windows app. The Microsoft Defender preview is available in English and U.S. only for the preview,” Microsoft announced.

As Microsoft explains, the Windows version of the app comes with the exclusive option of seeing all the devices enrolled in your family profile, but most likely, the same capability would be brought to all devices rather sooner than later.

Microsoft hasn’t shared an ETA as to when the new Microsoft Defender could be out of preview, but it’s pretty clear this is going to take time. Obviously, the feedback received from users is playing a key role, so you know what you have to do right now.
