Microsoft has recently announced a significant update for Sticky Notes that brings both improvements and new features.

Currently available exclusively for Windows insiders, Sticky Notes version 3.6 requires Windows 10 build 18855 and newer – these builds are only available for users enrolled in the Skip Ahead ring.

First and foremost, the most significant change that most users are likely to notice is the addition of support for images, so beginning with this version, you can easily add a photo to your notes. When creating a new sticky note, just click the picture icon the bottom toolbar to select the photo that you want to add.

Additionally, this new release introduces multi-desktop support. As you already know by now, Windows 10 comes with support for multiple desktops, and this makes it a breeze to organize your activities more efficiently.

Most people use it to separate work and personal apps, so toggling between desktops gets you to the workspace that is more appropriate to what you want to do. This Sticky Notes updates thus lets you migrate your notes from one desktop to another, so you’ll basically see the content regardless of the desktop you’re working on.

Only available for insiders

Version 3.6 also comes with an easy way to select notes from the taskbar or with keyboard shortcuts like Alt + Tab and Win + Tab. This means that if you’re currently working with a different app and want to jump directly to a specific sticky note, you can now do it by using the built-in Windows 10 native app switcher interface. The Ctrl + Tab hotkey is still there to switch from one sticky note to another.

Of course, there are also several under the hood improvements, like icons in the context menu when selecting text.

Keep in mind that this new version is only available for Skip Ahead insiders for the time being, but at some point in the near future, it should go live for everyone else too.
