Microsoft’s security arsenal is evolving at a super-fast pace, and today, the software giant is announcing another advanced solution that organizations can turn to in order to further secure their networks.

Experts on demand, which itself is a capability of Microsoft Threat Experts, has reached general availability, so customers can now reach out to Microsoft and work together with threat analysts on protecting their fleets in case of security concerns.

Microsoft Threat Experts was officially announced in February this year and is a new security module included in the Microsoft 365 suite. Threat Experts includes two different capabilities called targeted attack notifications and experts on demand.

The purpose of targeted attack notifications is to push the threat detection engine to a completely new level, offering features like threat monitoring and analysis, a hunter-trained AI for discovering both known and unknown attacks, risk identification and quick alerts sent to security operation centers, or SOCs, quick response and mitigations.

Microsoft Threat Experts targeted attack notifications reached general availability on April 30, 2019.

Fully-featured security arsenal

On the other hand, experts on demand helps organizations get professional help from Microsoft security experts whenever they feel like it’s required.

Microsoft security researchers can help, for example, with additional clarification on the alerts that organizations receive, provide recommendations on mitigating with highly-complex threats, determining the risk of an attack, and then require further help from Microsoft’s Incident Response teams.

“This capability was shaped through partnership with multiple customers across various verticals by investigating and helping mitigate real-world attacks. From deep investigation of machines that customers had a security concern about, to threat intelligence questions related to anticipated adversaries, experts on demand extends and supports security operations teams,” Dustin Duran, Principal Group Manager, Microsoft Defender ATP Research, explains in a blog post.

The two features that are part of Microsoft Threat Experts go hand in hand, so with today’s announcement organizations can benefit from the entire security system that helps guard their devices even further.
