Studio 4A confirms work has already begun on the next game

4A Games, the studio behind the iconic Metro series, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and revealed some of its upcoming plans. After being acquired by Saber Interactive, 4A Games now operates as an independently run subsidiary of the former. Started back in 2010 in Kyiv, Ukraine, 4A Games numbered just 60 people.

Recently, the studio opened a second HQ in Kyiv, after the first one that was opened in Malta six years ago. 4A Games is now a team of more than 150 people spread between these two locations, which plans to take the Metro series to a new level.

First off, 4A Games confirmed once again that it has already started work on the next Metro game, which will be built for “Gen 9 consoles and PC, with a complete overhaul of our engine and renderer to take advantage of the new power, storage, and hardware supported ray tracing afforded by the new consoles.”

And that's the only piece of information about the next Metro game revealed by 4A Games. However, the studio stated that it's committed to providing fans with “a great story-driven single-player experience.”

Besides that, 4A Games said the partnership with Saber allows the studio to start exploring new aspects that could be implemented into its games like multiplayer. Apparently, the studio is already exploring multiplayer concepts in the world of Metro.

The next important piece of information revealed by 4A Games is that the Metro Exodus will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021. The game will feature major enhancements including faster frame rate, increased resolution, reduced loading times, and ray tracing features made possible by the new hardware. The enhanced versions of Metro Exodus will be available as a free upgrade to all existing owners of the game.

Last but not least, 4A Games announced the while it's still working on the Metro series for many years to come, it plans to launch a new IP “that can sit alongside the Metro series.”
