The Document Foundation has just released a new version of LibreOffice for Windows, Linux, and Mac.

LibreOffice 6.3.4 is a significant release in terms of bug fixes and improvements, as the changelog includes over 120 lines, many of which concern document compatibility.

This is without a doubt welcome polishing to the overall experience with LibreOffice, especially because this is considered the main alternative to the much more expensive Microsoft Office suite.

The stable release of LibreOffice 6.3.4 includes all the improvements previously introduced in RC1 and RC2 builds, including bug fixes for signature removed from all macros when creating a new document from a template and incorrect merged cells in Writer table when working with the DOCX file format.

Fixed crashes

A number of crashes have also been resolved, including LibreOffice apps closing unexpectedly when cutting a textbox in a reopened document. TDF says it also fixed a problem causing LibreOffice Calc to hang when using the find and replace function.

For Windows users, one notable change is that Windows 7 and newer is required. In other words, LibreOffice 6.3.4 can’t be installed on Windows XP or Windows Vista, but on the other hand, if your device is running Windows 10, you should be just fine.

LibreOffice 6.3.4 is the fourth release as part of the LibreOffice 6.3 version, and it is specifically supposed to refine the experience with this update. This is why new features aren’t included in this build, albeit it’s a welcome update given that it polishes LibreOffice on all supported platforms. The Document Foundation says this update is “targeted at technology enthusiasts and power users.”
