You probably won’t afford it, but it looks so cool

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) isn’t only about mainstream devices that anyone can buy, but it also witnesses the debut of more exquisite products which most people couldn't afford.

Such an example is LG Display’s new rollable OLED TV, which comes as a piece of furniture that allows a super-thin screen to fold and unfold to and from a trendy base.

Called the OLED TV R, the device supports up to 50,000 folds and unfolds, and while this may sound like a major drawback at first, it really isn’t. If you turn the TV on and off five times every day, it means it should work for more than 13 years without any problems, and this is without a doubt more than enough for most customers willing to spend that much on a luxury product.

Launching later this year

The TV supports multiple modes, including a so-called line system that only partially unfolds the screen to let you listen to music using the 100W Dolby Sound surround speakers integrated into the soundbar at the bottom.

The device runs Web OS and offers all kinds of gimmicks, and it can entirely unfold into its base to go away completely at times when you don’t want a gigantic black mirror into your living room.

The video below shows the new TV in all its beauty, but there’s one thing we don’t know for now. LG hasn’t provided any information regarding the pricing of this TV, though it goes without saying that you shouldn’t expect it to come cheap by any means.

If I were to guess, I believe it would cost more than $10,000 when it hits the market later this year.

As said, most people won’t afford it, but LG will probably showcase the TV in several major stores across the world, so pretty much anyone should be able to check out its outright innovative product.
