Microsoft purchased Nokia’s Devices and Services unit and started one of the biggest restructuring processes in its history, firing thousands of workers and canceling devices that were supposed to help expand the Windows Phone lineup.

Some of these models have already been spotted online in leaked photos, but there are others that continue to be complete enigmas for all of us.

An image that has reached the web today via NPU shows a bunch of Nokia and Microsoft devices that were reportedly canceled before their public launch, including here what seems to be the Nokia 2020 tablet.

Successor to the Lumia 2520 tablet

Little has been said about this device, but the Nokia 2020 was believed to be the successor to Lumia 2520 and continue the series of Windows RT tablets released under the Nokia brand. Early specs pointed to an 8.3-inch screen, stylus support, and a rather small price, especially because Microsoft was trying to conquer the tablet market with Windows RT and make it a more compelling platform.

The Nokia 2020 was ultimately canceled, not only because of Microsoft’s restructuring plans following the Nokia deal but also due to the disappointing performance of Windows RT, the tablet-oriented operating system that was eventually abandoned by Microsoft even on its own Surface models.

Other than the Lumia 2020, this photo also shows the Lumia 650 XL, which has a Microsoft logo and which was supposed to reach the market as a bigger version of the Lumia 650 with Windows 10 Mobile. There's also an image of the Nokia XL 2 prototype, which was canceled at about the same time as Nokia’s X3 series revamp when the company was looking into ways to have a more consistent phone lineup.

All devices, including the Nokia tablet, share the signature Lumia design language and come in colors that we’ve already seen on the market. It’s worth noting, however, that new models featuring the Microsoft logo have given up on colors such as orange and yellow and stick with white, which gives a more premium overall look.
