Galaxy Note 9 poster leaks ahead of August unveiling

If you’re in the market for a phablet with stylus support, here’s something that you should by no means purchase.

Samsung will soon launch a new phone that looks, feels, and works just like the previous model, which in turn looked, felt, and worked just like its predecessor. In other words, Samsung’s new flagship device will not only appear outdated, but actually be outdated, if today’s leak is anything to believe in.

The poster you see here claims to show the upcoming Galaxy Note 9, a model which at first glance has no other purpose than to keep us busy for a couple hours on August 9 when Samsung officially unveils it in New York.

Because according to the previous leaks and today’s poster, there’s nothing really exciting about the Note 9, as the device is going to be a mix of the Galaxy S9 hardware in Galaxy Note 8 hardware. It’s a cocktail of old and new which for some reason Samsung believes actually makes sense at a time when Apple is getting ready to roll out a major upgrade to the iPhone lineup.

S Pen improvements

The South Koreans hope that the Galaxy Note 9 would help them buy more time until the more dramatically overhauled Galaxy S10 goes live in early 2019, though if the company doesn’t change everything in a substantial manner, the excitement will probably remain at record low levels.

As for the specs, the Galaxy Note 9 will feature the same hardware as the Galaxy S9+ unveiled earlier this year, and the biggest change would be the S Pen. That’s right, the stylus that too few people actually use would be the star of the show because Samsung believes that customers spending nearly $1,000 want to control music playback with the pen. As a result, the firm integrated Bluetooth support and a small battery in the stylus.

Full details will be unveiled in August, but as things are right now, don’t expect any big surprises. What would really be surprising is the Galaxy Note 9 selling well.
