Alleged silicon cases show iPhone 12 names

Apple is projected to take the wraps off a new-generation iPhone in just a few weeks, and the closer we get to this moment, the more information emerges on this updated lineup.

We’ve known for a while that Apple was planning to launch four different iPhone models this year, including an all-new device that would come with a 5.4-inch display. The other three models are successors to this year’s iPhone, so we’re going to get a new iPhone 12, an iPhone 12 Pro, and obviously an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The 5.4-inch iPhone, on the other hand, is one mysterious device whose name has likely been disclosed by a new leak published online by leaked DuanRui. According to alleged stickers that are supposed to be placed on silicon cases for the new iPhone generation, this new model with a 5.4-inch screen would hit the shelves as iPhone 12 mini.

iPhone 12 mini making sense

At first glance, this is a moniker that certainly makes sense, especially because this new model would be smaller than all the other siblings in the 2020 lineup. At the same time, Apple has used the mini name for other models before, including the iPad and the Mac, so the company could very well expand it to the iPhone too.

What we don’t know is whether the iPhone 12 mini would also come with other differences as compared to the other iPhones besides the smaller display. Earlier this year, rumors that made the headlines through unofficial channels indicated that the iPhone 12 mini could also come with a smaller notch, something that makes sense, though most people would expect a similar upgrade on all iPhones.

For the time being, Apple has obviously remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the iPhone 12, so take this new report with a healthy pinch of salt. If anything, the rumor mill claims the iPhone 12 could be announced on October 13, so it won’t be long until we find out if this rumor is true or not.
