The notch would be smaller, with a catch though

Apple planning to make the iPhone notch smaller is something that we keep hearing pretty much every time the company is getting ready to release a new-generation model.

And now that the iPhone 13 is coming, the same rumor is making the headlines too, though this time, we also have some photos to confirm the whole thing.

A video published by Makotakara shows an alleged iPhone 13 Pro dummy most likely built using the schematics obtained from the supply chain.

But of course, it’s by no means the final version of the iPhone, so anything can change by the time Apple decides every little detail about its new smartphone.

But right now, the iPhone 13 Pro notch measures 5.35mm in height and 26.8mm in width, so it’s slightly different than the one of the iPhone 12 Pro, which measures 5.3mm and 34.83mm, respectively.

iPhone 13 coming in September

In other words, the new notch could be a little bit taller, and as you can see in the comparison photo here, it’s something that’s clearly visible when putting the iPhone 12 Pro and the new iPhone 13 Pro side by side.

One of the changes allowing for a redesigned notch is believed to be the location of the earpiece speaker. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is moving this little component from the notch to the top edge of the phone, so in theory, the company can therefore adjust the overall dimensions of the notch accordingly.

More information should be provided rather sooner than later, as Apple reportedly wants all iPhone 13 models to launch according to the typical schedule in September. This means the device should be finalized and ready for the final production stage in the summer, so expect more leaks to surface in the coming months.
