Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup will also include a more affordable LCD version with a 6.1-inch screen, and according to top-rated analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this is very likely to be the big star of the show this year.

In an investor note seen by AI, Kuo explained that the 6.1-inch iPhone would most likely account for up to 55 percent of all sales recorded by the new models, at least in the United States, despite a one-month delay.

In other words, this particular model will sell better than the more premium versions, and it will hit the shelves a month later, possibly because Apple wants to give some exclusive time on the market to its expensive iPhones.

Kuo also points out that contrary to recent reports, the LCD iPhone will use the same processor as the 2018 iPhone X and iPhone X Plus. Therefore, the device is expected to be equipped with the A12 chip, and not with the A10 used on the iPhone 7, as some rumors that made the rounds earlier this month suggested.

Rumored pricing specs

This more affordable iPhone is likely to be priced somewhere between $600 and $700, the analyst explains, while the new iPhone X should cost between $800 and $900. This means the second-generation iPhone X could be as much as $200 more affordable than the original model, a move that Apple makes in order to make room for the new iPhone X Plus debuting this year.

The bigger model will start at $999, the analyst expects, and pricing will increase as more storage is added. A 512 GB version of the iPhone X Plus is also planned, as Apple wants this to be a response to the 512GB version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The debut of the new iPhones will most likely take place on September 12, with Apple likely to begin sending out invites for the press conference later this week.
