Microsoft has released a new version of Skype, and of course, this update brings lots of improvements on all supported platforms.

If you’re using Skype, no matter the platform, version 8.86 includes some pretty cool refinements, including reactions improvements on Windows, Mac, Linux, and the web. For example, the Redmond-based software giant allows users to react to a message by clicking someone else’s reaction.

With this one click, users can therefore react to a message using their contact’s reaction as well, so the process overall is much more straightforward.

In addition, Skype for Android, iPhone, and iPad comes with the same reaction improvement, while also providing users with new Ukraine-themed emoticons.

Microsoft explains that Skype 8.86 also comes with additional bug fixes and improvements, including for problems that were encountered by users on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 computers.

The following fixes are part of the most recent version of Skype”

  • Skype ringing once, after receiving a message notification on iOS
  • Navigation with opening chats in chats and contacts tabs on Android
  • Skype not connecting to audio/video devices on Windows 7 and 8.1
  • Missing 'send button' after recording a video on Android Chromebook

As it happens every time a new version of Skype goes live, the new features are going live for production devices in stages, so the company explains that not everybody sees them on day one. In other words, users are recommended to check again for the new capabilities in a few days, as the rollout shouldn’t take too long.

“The new features are rolling out gradually over the next couple of days so if you don’t see them right away, just check again soon! Please let us know what you think about the latest changes, either here in the community or through the Skype app,” Microsoft explains.
