The Divinity spin-off Fallen Heroes has been completely cut by the owner of the IP – Larian Studios. The game developed in collaboration with Logic Artists should have been released at some point in November, but it has been put on hold indefinitely.

In an official statement, Larian said that the game needs much more development time and resources than are available now to bring Divinity: Fallen Heroes to fruition, “in a fun and sustainable way.”

It's no surprise that Larian Studios doesn't have the manpower and resources to try and complete Fallen Heroes, as the developer is now working on a much bigger project: Baldur's Gate 3. Speaking of the upcoming cRPG, Larian confirmed that it will now fully focus on Baldur's Gate 3, while Logic Artists will work on their own Expeditions games.

It's always sad to put an exciting project on hold, but sometimes the realities of development and release schedules simply assert themselves in ways that are outside anyone's control. It's been an incredible honor to work with Larian on their Divinity IP, and everyone at Logic Artists has been blown away by how helpful and welcoming Larian has been throughout the project,” says Logic Artists in a statement.

Although the Divinity: Fallen Heroes hasn't been completely cut from the roadmap, it will not see the light of day until Larian doesn't release Baldur's Gate 3. Since the latter doesn't even have a launch date yet, it's hard to guess when the studio will have time to focus on smaller projects like Fallen Heroes.

At the moment, it's unclear is Larian Studios will continue to collaborate with Logic Artists on the Divinity spin-off when the time is right, but we don't see any reasons why the IP owner would outsource the project to some other studio.
