None of the games are made by the Japanese studio though

Silent Hill is one of the most famous horror games that we've been missing in the last ten years. Konami, the owner of the IP, seems to be unable to make another Silent Hill game probably afraid that it won't meet fans' high expectations.

However, it appears that Konami has found a solution to the problem, so even if it's not capable of producing another horror hit, it will allow other studios to make it happen. A new report by VGC claims there are multiple Silent Hill reboots in the works at different studios.

Supermassive Games, the studio behind horrors like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, is rumored to be one of the developers approached by Konami. The studio was invited to pitch its take on another Silent Hill game, but no contract between the two companies was signed yet.

The same report mentions Bloober Team as another possible home for the Silent Hill franchise, at least a temporary home. The studio's CEO told GamesIndustry.biz this week that Bloober Team is working on a new horror IP “with a very famous gaming publisher,” but refused to name it: “I can't tell you who. I can't tell you what the project is, but I'm pretty sure when people realize we're working on it, they will be very excited.”

To support the above theory, Akira Yamaoka, the composer of Silent Hill's soundtrack who left Konami back in 2009, is also the composer for Bloober Team's latest horror game, The Medium. In a now-deleted YouTube interview, Yamaoka said that he's working on a new project that will be revealed this summer, teasing it as “the one you're hoping to hear about.”

Even if neither of these studios is working on a new Silent Hill, let's hope that at least Konami is actively looking for a developer to bring back the popular horror series.
