We're not sure how many of you still remember Knights of Honor, the real-time strategy game developed by Bulgarian studio Black Sea, which was launched back in 2005. But that doesn't really matter since the sequel that's just been unveiled early this week is going to be bigger and better.

Developed by THQ Nordic in cooperation with the veteran game devs at Black Sea Games, Knights of Honor II: Sovereign is set for release in 2020. Described as the first step into the Grand Strategy genre, Knights of Honor II is trying to bring back the classic medieval strategy experience offered by games like Age of Empires, Stronghold Crusader Kings and Medieval II: Total War.

Although an official trailer comes with the announcement, no gameplay is shown in the video, but that's probably a marketing decision. As we're getting close to release, we'll most likely be bombarded with information about the game.

However, THQ Nordic revealed some information about Knights of Honor II: Sovereign, such as the fact that this will be a real-time strategy game, so there will be no turns (that includes battles). Multiplayer will be an important aspect of the game, as players will be able to join with multiple friends to take on the challenges presented by medieval Europe.

Another interesting game mechanic is the Royal Court, which lets players appoint Marshalls, Clerics, Merchants, Diplomats, and Spies to exert their will across the land.

Obviously, the game implies raising armies to defend your newly conquered lands or take the war to the enemy. Besides being able to build your army to conquer new kingdoms, Knights of Honor II: Sovereign includes various gameplay mechanics like diplomacy, religion and economy management. Also, players will be able to directly lead their armies in real-time combat.

Since it's a traditional real-time strategy game, Knights of Honor II: Sovereign will only be launched on PC, but the only timeframe offered by THQ Nordic is 2020.
