KDE has released the second maintenance update for the KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop environment series, which has already been adopted by several popular GNU/Linux operating systems.

Yes, that's right, KDE Plasma 5.7.2 is already here, and Arch Linux users are among the first to enjoy it, as usual. As for the changes, the release notes show us that there are lots of Plasma Workspace improvements to various components, such as for things like the system tray.

Additionally, the update contains fixes and various other improvements to the Breeze icons, which are now compatible with kdelibs4, the Discover package manager, the implementation of image rotation support from EXIF data in the Plasma Addons, and a couple of changes to the Oxygen theme.

"Plasma 5.7 was released in July with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds a week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important," reads the official release announcement.

Users are urged to update to the KDE Plasma 5.7.2 update as soon as possible

Other components that have received fixes in the KDE Plasma 5.7.2 update are the KWin window manager and the Plasma desktop. Of course, the main reason for this maintenance update is to bring more stability and reliability to the KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop environment. More details about the changes can be found in the release notes.

As more and more GNU/Linux operating systems are adopting the new KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop, they are also pushing the new maintenance releases to the stable channels, so it is better to check them regularly and update to KDE Plasma 5.7.2 and newer releases as soon as possible if you want to have a stable, bug-free KDE Plasma 5 experience.
