Office 2019 is nothing compared to Office 365, videos show

Microsoft is no stranger of comparison videos where one of its products is thrown in a battle against rival solutions from other companies, as the software giant did it several times lately with Microsoft Edge, for example.

But this time, Microsoft is doing something entirely different, and it is actually comparing Microsoft Office 2019 with Office 365 to highlight the reason you shouldn’t buy the first and go for the latter.

You’d normally expect Microsoft to promote all of its products equally, but this latest series of videos published by the company clearly shows that Office 365 is so much better than the full version of Office 2019.

And there’s one big reason for this: Microsoft Office 2019 isn’t getting any new features beyond what it’s in there right now, while Office 365, since it’s offered as a service, is regularly improved with new functionality.

Office 365 is a constantly growing business

The bigger difference is that for Microsoft Office 2019 you pay just once when you purchase the product, whereas for Office 365 you buy a subscription that provides access to the built-in apps as long as you’re a subscriber.

However, Microsoft uses a very clear message for those who considered purchasing Office 2019: just don’t do it, as Office 365 brings so many more benefits.

As part of the company’s “Twins Challenge,” Microsoft uses twins to show the pros and cons of both Office products. As Microsoft puts it:

“One had intelligent features in PowerPoint thanks to Office 365. The other just had Office 2019.”

Office 365 has become one of Microsoft’s main cash cows. Last quarter, for example, Office Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 11 percent, with Office 365 Commercial revenue alone going up 34 percent. The same for consumers, where Office 365 reached 33.3 million subscribers thanks to 1 percent growth.
