Microsoft is now giving the finishing touches to Windows 10 October 2018 Update, and rumor has it that the public rollout could begin as soon as October 2.

This does make sense given that Microsoft will be holding a Surface press conference the same day, so the company may also announce the global availability of the new OS feature sometime during the show.

Rumor has it that Windows 10 build 17763 is the one that the company has selected as RTM, and after releasing it to insiders in the Fast and Slow rings, the software giant should ship it to those in the Release Preview ring too.

While no confirmation in this regard has been provided, evidence that build 17763 is indeed RTM has already been discovered, including ESD files that Microsoft may prepare for the Media Creation Tool in order to allow users to manually update their systems.

Cloud Clipboard is a new feature in Windows 10 October 2018 Update

Also known as Redstone 5 (the internal codename) and version 1809, Windows 10 October 2018 Update comes with several new features and tons of refinements.

In the last few weeks, we’ve dissected the update to describe in detail every little feature that’ll be part of this release. Among the new features, worth mentioning are the dark theme for File Explorer, the Cloud Clipboard, Focus Assist, storage improvements to free up space, Bluetooth battery level, and typing insights.

The Cloud Clipboard, for instance, allows you to have your clipboard synced between devices, but also to manage your clipboard more effectively. The dark theme in File Explorer is one of the most anticipated Windows features, and it’s entirely built on user feedback.

Fluent Design has also been expanded to more areas of the operating system, and Microsoft Edge browser, which is the default browser in Windows 10, is getting new options like autoplay controls.

The changelog is absolutely huge and includes smaller refinements as well, and all of them are supposed to substantially revamp your experience with Windows 10.

Needless to say, a significant number of users have already tried out this new OS feature update by enrolling in the Windows Insider program, but at the same time, there are millions of other customers out there who are eager to receive a new version of Windows 10.

Storage Sense can now free up space

Long-time Windows 10 users probably remember that the April 2018 Update rollout was pushed back for a few days due to a last-minute bug that forced Microsoft to re-issue the RTM to insiders. While this information has never been confirmed, the April 2018 Update ended up being released on April 30 as a manual download, while the automatic rollout kicked off in May.

Right now, Windows 10 October 2018 Update preview builds seem pretty refined and stable, and I haven’t seen any bugs in the most recent updates. The number of known issues has also dropped from build to build, proving that Microsoft indeed advanced towards the final development stages of the update.

The company, however, hasn’t said a single thing about the RTM build or the shipping date of the October 2018 Update, and this can only be a good thing. Without a specific public timeline, Microsoft can concentrate on finalizing the update and providing users with seamless experience, which is without a doubt mandatory given that this isn’t just a regular patch that users need to install.

But with the October 2018 Update just around the corner, we’re wondering if users who have already tried out the preview builds are pleased with how this update evolved since worked on it started earlier this year.

Do you feel like the Redstone 5 update is ready for launch or should Microsoft spend more time improving its performance? Are there any new features you hoped to be part of this release? What’s your experience so far with the update?

Let us know what you think in the box after the jump.
