The new iPhone XR will be available for pre-order on Friday, October 19 at 12:01 a.m. PST on the Apple Store app and apple.com, and it will go on sale in more than 50 countries on Friday, October 26, according to Apple's Newsroom.

The iPhone XR was officially unveiled on September 12 during an event taking place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino as a more affordable alternative to the iPhone XS and XS Max.

Moreover, the iPhone XR comes in a smaller format featuring a 6.1-inch LCD Liquid Retina HD display unlike the XS and XS Max which comes with 5.8- and 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina HD displays.

The XR also has IP67 dust and water protection rating which makes it completely protected against dust and allows you to use it at a maximum depth of 1 meter for about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the iPhone XS and the XS Max both have IP68 ratings which add protection for diving at depth and higher pressure levels.

The iPhone XR has almost the same specifications as the XS and the XS Max beside the camera, the IP ratings, and the front display panel

When compared to Apple's top of the line iPhones, the XR also features a 12 MP camera while the flagships bundle dual 12 MP cameras with telephoto and wide-angle lenses.

On every other specification, the iPhone XR perfectly matches the XS and the XS Max, bundling the same A12 Bionic chip with next-generation Neural Engine, the same radios selection with GSM/EDGE, 802.11ac Wi‑Fi with MIMO, and DC-HSDPA.

However, the iPhone XR has lower class LTE capabilities featuring LTE Advanced while his siblings come with Gigabit-class LTE.

The iPhone XR will be available in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB models in multiple colors and starting at $749 on the Apple Store and in Apple Store locations, as well as from Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers.
