Apple’s trio of iPhones going live this year will include a Plus-sized version of the iPhone X, which according to all rumors so far could come with a 6.5-inch OLED panel.

And according to new schematics that leaked this weekend, there’s a chance that the iPhone X Plus might also feature a bigger upgrade in terms of camera performance.

It’s believed that this particular model would launch with three cameras on the back for an approach similar to the one that Huawei used on the P20 Pro. Specifics are rather sketchy at this point, but this isn’t the first time we hear about a triple camera on the back of bigger iPhone X Plus, and this could be a sign there’s indeed some truth behind the leaks.

Launch in September

The three cameras could be a major step forward in terms of AR and 3D push for Apple. The company is betting big on such capabilities for its devices, so this camera configuration could help users create their own 3D content. iOS 12 is also likely to include code to power such features.

Also interesting is that the iPhone X Plus will have nearly the same dimensions as the iPhone 8 Plus. The leak shows that it could measure 6.18 x 3.03 in (156.9 x 76.9 mm), whereas the 8 Plus reaches 6.24 x 3.07 in (158.4 x 77.9 mm). This is possible thanks to the edge-to-edge display approach with a notch at the top of the screen. The Home button with Touch ID will be removed in the favor of Face ID facial recognition system.

The iPhone X Plus should launch together with a successor to the iPhone X and a more affordable LCD model measuring 6.1 inches. The unveiling will take place in September, though people familiar with the matter said that Apple could hold back the cheaper configuration for approximately one more month, thus starting sales in October.
