New details of larger iPhone X emerge today

Apple’s 2018 iPhone trio will also include a larger iPhone X, presumably called iPhone X Plus, that would be based on the current model but come with a series of upgrades.

According to a new report released by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has always been one of the most reliable sources on Apple scoops, the upcoming iPhone X Plus would feature a 6.5-inch OLED screen and be available starting at $1,000.

This means Apple is expected to use the current iPhone X pricing for the bigger sibling, which means that the next-generation iPhone X could actually be a bit more affordable. Most likely, the 2018 iPhone X may start at $899, which is $100 less than the existing iteration.

Aesthetically, the new iPhone X Plus will look just like the iPhone X, only that it’ll feature a larger screen. It’s believed the device could also come with a triple-camera system, like the Huawei P20 Pro, but this is highly unlikely for the 2018 series.

Three colors

On the other hand, Kuo believes the iPhone X Plus would hit the market with three different colors, as compared to the current iPhone X that’s only sold in two versions. Black, white, and gold could be available for the iPhone X Plus, alongside a PRODUCT(RED) model that would launch at a later time.

The 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus could also come with several exclusive features over the other configurations, including more storage and possibly 4GB RAM. iPhone X features 3GB RAM, and while there are signs that all models could be upgraded to 4GB RAM, there’s also a chance that only the bigger version might get this treatment.

iPhone X Plus may feature OLED panels manufactured by LG as part of Apple’s efforts to reduce reliance on Samsung. At this point, the iPhone X OLED screen is produced by Samsung and is one of the most expensive parts of the device.

Full information will be provided in September when all three new iPhones are expected to be unveiled, with sales to begin later the same month.
