Apple launched iOS 14 with much fanfare in September this year for the iPhone 6s and newer, and since then, more and more users are installing this new release.

The company has finally published new information on the iOS 14 adoption rate, revealing that 81 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years have already updated.

On the other hand, 17 percent of them are still on iOS 13, while 2 percent of these devices are still on an earlier version of the operating system.

When it comes to the entire Apple smartphone base, 72 percent of them are currently running iOS 14, which shows just how efficient the Cupertino-based tech giant is when it comes to keeping devices up-to-date.

18 percent of all devices are currently using iOS 13, while 10 percent of them are running an earlier release.

As far as the iPad is concerned, Apple says 61 percent of all tablets are already on iPadOS 14, with 21 percent of them still on the previous version.

iOS 15 coming next year

iOS 14 comes with a series of major improvements, and one of the most important is the support for widgets. This new feature, however, comes with a series of limitations, as the widgets can only display static information and don’t allow users to interact with apps.

In addition, iOS 14 also comes with an App Library, but also with several other improvements that certainly contributed to its fast adoption.

Apple is obviously planning in advance and working on iOS 15 already, with its final release projected to happen in September next year. As per the company’s typical release, the very first beta of iOS 15 is projected to go live in the summer at the WWDC developer event.
