Apple is already preparing for its very first event of 2022, which according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman could take place in March or April.

As you could easily guess if you’re up-to-date with the new devices Apple has been working on lately, the company will take the wraps off the new iPhone SE 3 in the spring, and it’s believed this March or April event could witness its unveiling.

What to expect on the iPhone SE 3

Needless to say, the new iPhone SE 3 will be an upgrade over the current model, but surprisingly, the Cupertino-based tech giant isn’t also interested in a visual makeover of the device.

This means the upgrades will only take place under the hood, as the iPhone SE 3 will continue to boast the design of the current model. iPhone SE 3 will therefore look like an iPhone 8 and still feature a home button with integrated Touch ID. Its screen will measure 4.7 inches and will therefore lack a notch and Face ID.

Apple’s work on the iPhone SE 3 focuses on the technology under the hood.

The device will support 5G, therefore bringing this small form factor in line with the more premium iPhone already on the market.

Furthermore, the company plans to upgrade the processor to the latest-generation Bionic chip, therefore making the device substantially faster. The camera will also receive a bunch of improvements, though given it’ll stick with a single-lens setup, it goes without saying it still won’t be able to match the performance of the latest-generation iPhones.

Apple is also expected to launch a new iPhone SE in 2024, this time based on the iPhone XR. In other words, the new iPhone SE launching this year will be the last to come with such a small form factor, as the device would eventually embrace a larger screen with a notch and Face ID.
