An iPhone owner has decided to go to a legal war with the company that built this smartphone after the was turned out when he asked for repairs under warranty.

More specifically, BI highlights the case of someone called Theodore A. Kim who purchased an iPhone 12 in Vietnam but then couldn’t use it in the United States.

So when he arrived in the States, he reached out to Apple for support, with the company instructing him to go to an Apple Store. The staff, however, refused to fix his iPhone because it’s been tampered with.

At least, that’s what the engineers told him, as the man says he never tried anything that would void the warranty on his iPhone.

Kim even wanted to pay the repairs, but the Apple Store staff refused, eventually giving his iPhone 12 back and letting him struggle with the problem he reported in the first place. But as it turns out, this wasn’t the only concern on the iPhone, as the device now exhibited a busted SIM tray too.

Suing Apple

Kim says this wasn’t a problem before he brought the iPhone to the Apple Store, so now the man claims the Apple Store staff is responsible for breaking down his smartphone.

After emailing Tim Cook but failing to get a response, the man decided to take Apple to court. However, he’s not asking for millions of dollars in damages or things like that, as he just wants the company to pay $1,383.13, which is the exact amount of money he paid on his smartphone.

Apple has remained completely tight-lipped on the whole thing, but now that the story is getting so much press, there’s a chance we’ll never hear about this case once again. Of course, it’d be easy and pretty affordable for Apple to settle the dispute and pay the man for his broken iPhone, but it remains to be seen what strategy the company is eventually embracing.
