Apple is getting ready to launch the new-generation iPhone in just one week, but in the meantime, the company is also planning in advance and working on new projects that could help it conquer a bigger part of the mobile market.

More specifically, the Cupertino-based tech giant has recently trademarked the iPhone for Life phrase in Hong Kong, according to a report from Patently Apple, but the company could then expand it to other markets as well.

Apple itself has been very vague about the whole thing, but judging from the information that the company has included in the official papers, it could be a rental program that it might use for the iPhone. Of course, this could make the device itself more affordable and allow more customers to get one, which for Apple is without a doubt an important step towards bigger market share.

According to the trademark application, the phrase covers “retail store services and retail store services provided via communications networks” and “financial services; financing services; banking services; financing of loans; extension of retail credit; installment loans; lease-purchase financing.”

New iPhones just around the corner

In the meantime, Apple is getting ready to launch a new iPhone lineup as soon as this month, and this time there will be four different models getting the green light.

The smallest of them will be the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, which will be all new and specifically aimed at those who want a smaller new iPhone. There will be two different 6.1-inch iPhones this year, one of them a successor to the iPhone 11, while the other will be an upgraded iPhone 11 Pro.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max successor will come with a 6.7-inch display and will be the top-of-the-range configuration this year.
