Apple is expected to take the wraps off the next-generation iPhone sometime next month, and after so many leaks that provided us with a look at the “new” design of the entire lineup, here’s a new report that includes some hardware specifications.
Obviously, both devices will come with Apple’s new A10 chip, which is said to be specifically optimized for increased power and reduced battery consumption, but details aren’t available right now. Benchmarks will help us in this regard, but expect more information to be provided by Apple itself during the official unveiling.
Before anything, it’s worth mentioning that these specs come via Twitter user @the_malignant, who has a mixed track on leaks, so it’s recommended to take them with a pinch of salt, although many of them actually make sense, given the previous leaks.
iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 will feature a 4.7-inch display with the same resolution as the existing 6s model: 750x1334 pixels. The device will come with 2 GB of LDDR4 memory and a battery of 1960 mAh, up from 1715 mAh on the existing model.
What’s important is that Apple is also paying particular attention to the camera, and although it won’t be offering the dual-camera system from the Plus, it will actually deliver a significant upgrade.
As a result, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will launch with a 12-megapixel camera with 1/2.6 sensor size, F1.9, and 1.3 µm pixel size as compared to 1/3, F2.2, and 1.22 µm pixel size on the iPhone 6s. Below is a comparison between the specs of the existing model and the upcoming one.

iPhone 7 Plus
The iPhone 7 Plus is the one getting more exciting upgrades, so it’ll feature a dual-camera configuration that should help shoot better photos in all lighting conditions. And because of the new camera, some other upgrades will be included too, in order to offer better processing power and battery life.
According to the same source, the iPhone 7 Plus (which some refer to as the iPhone 7 Pro) will come with the same 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and 3GB of RAM, up from 2 GB on the 6s model - this upgrade is needed to cope with the new camera requirements.
The device will launch with a battery of 2910 mAh, up from 2750 mAh on the 6s Plus, so it should be able to offer one day of battery life despite the more powerful processor and the more demanding camera.
And speaking of the camera, the iPhone 7 Plus/Pro is likely to launch with two 12-megapixel cameras with 1/3 sensor size and F1.9, but the specifics of the dual-camera system are not yet available. Below is a comparison between the old and the new iPhone Plus models.
