Bigger changes already in the queue for the iPhone

Apple is working on a series of major improvements for the iPhone, and according to a new analyst note, the device could end up getting a periscope lens as soon as 2023.

This upgrade is therefore expected to take place on the iPhone 15, with analyst Jeff Pu explaining in a note obtained by MacRumors that at least one model will come with such capabilities.

Most likely, Apple is planning this upgrade on the Pro models, as the company is apparently working on making a bigger difference between the standard devices and the upgraded iPhones.

Big changes planned for 2022 as well

While this new periscope camera will make its debut on the iPhone in 2023, the Cupertino-based tech giant is already giving the finishing touches to other big changes on the next generation.

In other words, the iPhone 14 due this year will sport a major refresh, and the most notable difference will be the removal of the notch on the Pro models.

The new iPhone lineup will comprise four different models, namely the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 14, an all-new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, as well as the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The two standard models will continue to come with a notch at the top of the screen, just like the existing devices, while the Pro versions will be upgraded to a punch-hole screen. This means the front-facing components, including the selfie camera and the Face ID module, will be integrated into the screen.

This is the first step towards bigger changes that could see the daylight in 2023, including the return of Touch ID. At this point, however, all these changes are obviously yet to be confirmed, so a certain dose of skepticism is undoubtedly recommended.
