Apple’s recently released iPhone 14 lineup comes with lots of hardware upgrades, but on the other hand, it looks like it also introduces new bugs that the first buyers ended up struggling with.

One of them causes excessive overheating even without running any apps or demand processing, with complaints online revealing that all devices in the new series are apparently affected.

A report from PiunikaWeb has more complaints from users worldwide, with someone explaining that out of all their iPhones at home, only the brand-new iPhone 14 Pro exhibits this overheating behavior.

“Hi, I have a ton of iPhones from my family that use different chargers around the house. I setup my 14 Pro today flawlessly. Everything is perfect except no matter what charger I use, the phone gets exceptionally hot. So hot, in fact, that I get a message the phone stopped charging die to overheating. Anyone have this issue?” the new iPhone owner says.

Some users asked for replacements

Interestingly, someone says they have already reached out Apple support to report the problem, and despite originally being told to wait for a few more days to complete the background tasks, a change of device was the accepted solution.

“I have the same problem for Pro Max. I reached the apple support, they mention 1st 2 days after the restore, phone might doing some task at the background example photo... so while charging.. so it will be hot. But my battery is also draining very fast....So I request for a change of device... and they agree to it,” the iPhone owner explained in a MacRumors discussion thread.

At this point, however, Apple is yet to acknowledge any overheating problems on the iPhone 14 generation, so it remains to be seen if this is a widespread bug or not.
