Apple is projected to launch the iPhone 14 in September, and the closer we get to this highly anticipated announcement, the more information emerges on the upcoming lineup.

The latest tidbit comes from Weibo, where a leaker has published what they claim to be the battery capacity of all iPhone models included in the 2022 generation.

The biggest surprise appears to be the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which could come with a smaller battery than the model it replaces, obviously if this leak is accurate.

While the iPhone 13 Pro Max uses a 4,352 mAh battery, the 2022 model could be fitted with a 4,323 mAh unit, a slight drop as compared to the previous version.

The all-new iPhone 14 Max, which will be a larger version of the standard iPhone 14, will use a 4,325 mAh battery.

Here’s the comparison between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 lineups, again if today’s leak is indeed accurate:

  • iPhone 13 vs. iPhone 14: 3,227 vs 3,279 mAh
  • iPhone 13 Pro vs. iPhone 14 Pro; 3,095 vs. 3,200 mAh
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max vs. iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4,352 vs. 4,323 mAh
  • iPhone 14 Max: 4,325 mAh

The drop in battery capacity, however, is unlikely to produce a massive decline in autonomy, especially as the difference is rather minor and Apple can always compensate with more optimizations in terms of software.

On the other hand, it’s important to keep in mind the iPhone 14 generation is still a work in progress, so the battery capacities could be slightly different when the devices launch in September.

At the end of the day, however, the iPhone 14 shouldn’t be much different from the iPhone 13 when it comes to battery life per charge, especially as Apple will most likely invest heavily in power optimizations on the new-generation models.
