Report claims the new iPhone will stick with 60Hz

Apple is making several big changes for next year’s iPhone lineup, but as it turns out, the difference between the standard models and the Pro versions is getting even bigger.

If we are to trust the existing rumors, Apple will give up on the iPhone mini form factor, with the company to introduce an all-new 6.7-inch size.

In other words, the 2022 iPhone lineup (likely called iPhone 14) will include the existing 6.1-inch iPhone, the 6.1-inch iPhone Pro, the 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max, and an all-new iPhone Max (without the Pro thing).

Needless to say, the new Max version will be a larger sibling of the standard iPhone.

And according to a report from The Elec, it’s likely to sport the same boring display as well.

More specifically, Apple will use 60Hz displays on the standard iPhones and 120Hz on the Pro models, and given this new Max version wouldn’t come with anything different as compared to the 6.1-inch base size, it’ll obviously get the same screen as well.

No final decision just yet

On the other hand, the good news is that Apple hasn’t made a final decision just yet. Apparently, the company is currently trying to figure out if LG has what it takes to handle the production of the iPhone 14 Max screens, and if it does, to see if a 120Hz panel is possible or not.

Both the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will sport a notch, whereas the Pro models are likely to come with a punch hole display. This could also pave the way for the return of Touch ID, which would be integrated into the glass just like it happens on high-end phones from Samsung.

Of course, everything is still in the rumor stage for now, so take everything with a healthy dose of skepticism.
