It’s not a secret that Apple is working around the clock on reducing its reliance on Chinese companies, and while the reasons for this strategy are pretty obvious, the company is making good progress in this regard.

After starting the production of the iPhone SE in India back in 2017, Apple has gradually been relying more and more on local manufacturing power.

The iPhone 13 is now the fourth model that Apple starts building in India, as according to a report by Reuters, this new device is now coming to be thanks to a local facility operated by Foxconn. The plant is located in the Southern Tamil Nadu state, the report adds.

It’s believed Apple doesn’t want to stop here, as the company also plans to start the Indian production of the iPad as well. In other words, iPads could soon be manufactured in India too, and there’s a chance Foxconn will once again be the company to handle all operations.

iPhone 14 just around the corner

In the meantime, Apple is also busy giving the finishing touches to the iPhone 14, as the device is projected to be announced in September.

As compared to the iPhone 13, the upcoming generation will come with several notable changes, and it all starts with the available lineup.

While the iPhone family will continue to have 4 members, the iPhone 14 will give up on the 5.4-inch mini form factor and instead for a larger 6.7-inch Max model.

This means the iPhone 14 lineup includes the standard iPhone 14, an iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Of course, you shouldn’t be surprised if the iPhone 14 ends up being manufactured in India at about the same time next year, especially as Apple is becoming more and more committed to stepping away from the Chinese supply chain.
