Apple is projected to take the wraps off the new-generation iPhone models in September, and according to the rumor mill, it’ll come with massive improvements overall.

While the 5G support, which is supposed to be available across the entire lineup, is the main highlight this year, Apple is obviously planning a series of other goodies too, including what could be an unexpected RAM upgrade on some specific models.

More specifically, new information coming via leakster @l0vetodream on Twitter suggests that Apple could offer the Pro version of the new iPhone 12 with 6GB RAM.

Apple is expected to unveil four different iPhones this year, as it follows:

  • iPhone 12 with a 5.4-inch screen
  • iPhone 12 with a 6.1-inch screen (successor to iPhone 11)
  • iPhone 12 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen (successor to iPhone 11 Pro)
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen (successor to iPhone 11 Pro Max)

According to the new details, both the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max could feature 6GB of RAM, whereas the other two models would stick with 4GB RAM.

Of course, it goes without saying that nothing should be taken as granted, as this is just unconfirmed information that may or may not be accurate.

iPhone 12 delay?

The new iPhones should be announced in September, but people close to the matter suggested that a delay is likely to happen for at least some models in the lineup.

This is because the mass production of the iPhone 12 has been pushed back by the global health crisis, which forced some Apple suppliers to slow down their operations and in some cases to shut down production facilities.

This means that while the iPhone 12 could go live in mid-September, some models might actually hit the shelves in October or November the latest, albeit Apple could very well decide to launch them without a delay but using a more limited inventory.
