Gradient color reportedly coming to new-gen iPhone

New iPhones are just around the corner, as Apple will take the wraps off the new generation on September 10, but the closer we get to the launch, the more information leaks to the web revealing more or less unexpected bits.

Today, for instance, Mobile Fun, who is an online retailer selling mobile phone accessories but became famous for the mobile scoops it provides, revealed something that few people anticipated: the iPhone 11 could be offered with a gradient color.

More interestingly, however, is that this gradient color appears to be inspired by the version found on the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Note10.

Gradient colors on modern smartphones aren’t something entirely new, and Huawei, for instance, has been using them for a long time already. But Apple wants Samsung’s Aura Glow color on its iPhone, and the 2019 generation could be the first to use a similar version.

Exclusive to top iPhones maybe?

According to the listing published on Mobile Fun and revealing the case created by Olixar, the case maker that presumably had access to iPhone color information, this gradient version could be available on the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

This is the version that replaces the iPhone XS Max, but right now, it’s still not clear if Apple wants to keep this color exclusive to the top-of-the-range iPhone or other models could get it too. There’s a chance the company offers it on the top configurations in an attempt to set them apart from the rest of the lineup.

Apple will launch three iPhones next week, all of them successors to the current models. We’ll thus get a new iPhone XR that will presumably be called iPhone 11 and feature a 6.1-inch LCD screen, an iPhone 11 Pro to replace the iPhone XS and an iPhone 11 Pro Max as a successor to the iPhone XS Max. These latter two will come with OLED and no longer feature 3D Touch.
