The adoption of the latest iOS version is increasing

Apple rarely talks about the adoption of the company’s latest iOS versions, and while the company does share official numbers every now and then, it’s yet to publish such information for iOS 16.

Announced in September, iOS 16 is one of the biggest updates in a long time. It comes with support for widgets on the lock screen, more customization options, and so many other changes that substantially revamp the experience on an iPhone.

But even so, the adoption of iOS 16 isn’t happening at the pace that most people expected it to happen.

New data published by Mixpanel, via MacRumors, reveals that the adoption of iOS 16 is reaching 70 percent, nearly 100 days after the launch of the operating system. iOS 16 is running on 68.90 percent of the supported devices, while iOS 16 is currently the runner-up with 24.82 percent. The remaining devices, some 7 percent of them, are currently on older versions of iOS.

Most likely, the numbers will improve in the coming weeks and months, but on the other hand, the current adoption figures show that iPhone users aren’t necessarily in a rush to update their devices.

iOS 16 is available for the iPhone 8 and newer, as Apple has finally left behind some very popular models, including the iPhone 7 (which was the first model to come without a headphone jack).

In the meantime, the Cupertino-based tech giant is giving the finishing touches to another big update for iPhones out there. iOS 16.2, which is expected next week, will further refine the experience with iOS 16, while also introducing plenty of upgrade improvements, including new widgets for the lock screen. The always-on experience, which is exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro, will also get an update to align with what you can currently find in the Android world.
