New option coming to iPhones and iPads in next iOS

iOS 13 will come not only with new features, but also with a bunch of smaller improvements that would further refine the experience with the operating system and make certain features a lot easier to use.

One of them is the way you uninstall apps on iPhones and iPads, as Apple has apparently decided to address the feedback received in this regard.

Right now, uninstalling an app that’s already on your iPhone comes down to that long-press gesture that you can turn to on the home screen. By pressing the X button on each icon you can remove one or multiple apps from the home screen, and it doesn’t take more than a few seconds.

But beginning with iOS 13, Apple will also provide us with an alternative method for removing apps.

iOS 13 due in September

As noted on Twitter by Brian Stucki, the Cupertino-based tech giant will introduce a new menu in the App Store that will let users swipe on any app and delete it in a second.

The new section will be included in the account options, and it lets users remove apps that are already on the device or have recently been updated. However, a swipe is required on each app, so at the end of the day, if you want to remove several entries, you might want to turn to the same home screen gesture I told you about earlier.

On the other hand, given the whole thing happens in the App Store, many users might actually prefer this method.

iOS 13 is projected to go live in September later this year, but an early version is already up for testing for registered developers. Public betas are also expected in the coming weeks, so expect more details on the improvements coming to iPhones and iPads as the operating system update evolves.
