The update fixes some bugs but causes others on devices

Apple’s iOS 12.1.4 comes to resolve several bugs in the operating, including the already infamous FaceTime bug that allows some users to see and hear others without them even answering calls.

But while the OS update was supposed to significantly improve the experience with iPhones and iPads, it also introduces other issues, which users who installed it are discovering the hard way.

As reported by Forbes, iOS 12.1.4 breaks down cellular data and Wi-Fi connectivity, and in some cases, iPhones don’t even recognize the SIM.

As you might remember, this is an issue that has been reported occasionally since the debut of iOS 12, and by the looks of things, this update only makes the matter much worse.

My colleague Marius Nestor experienced the same problem on his iPhone 7, but according to the cited source, the lost SIM connectivity is now hitting pretty much any iPhone model out there, including the new XS and XS Max.

Broken features

Others are just complaining that the update to this new version of iOS broke down specific features of the device, like Touch ID, though in most of the cases, these are just temporary bugs.

As it happens every time bugs are discovered in Apple software, the Cupertino-based tech giant has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the problems experienced by users. So while the company most likely heard all these complaints, you won’t get a fix until the next iOS update comes out.

Ironically, iOS 12 was supposed to be the OS version particularly focused on reliability and security, especially after the iOS 11 fiasco, but as we can all see, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

If you’re hoping for a new update anytime soon, just don’t hold your breath for it. At the same time, if you haven’t updated your iPhone yet, it may be a good idea to wait a few more days.
