14 DAY TRIAL // Intel has just released new graphics drivers with Windows 10 support, but surprisingly, the company hasn’t fixed a bug hitting version 1809, potentially causing blocking issues during the upgrade.
The new driver version is 25.20.100.6326 and comes with a rather unusual changelog. First of all, let’s highlight the good parts.
This update corrects a corruption in FIFA19 where some in-game objects were rendered incorrectly, while also bringing support for a number of games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Battlerite Royale, and Valkyria Chronicles 4 for specific video cards.
The new drivers are specifically aimed at Windows 10 64-bit, and can be installed on the majority of 6th, 7th, and 8th-generation processors. You can check the box below to see all supported CPU families.
Windows 10 version 1809
The awkward part concerns the audio drivers. A bug in older audio drivers from Intel caused issues systems being upgraded to Windows 10 version 1809, and in order to resolve it, the company released new drivers shortly after Microsoft started the rollout of its new operating system update.
However, with this new release, Intel goes back to the previous audio driver version for no clear reason. As per Neowin, audio drivers are being downgraded from 10.25.00.10 to 10.25.00.9, with the latter coming with said bug hitting Windows 10 version 1809.
The known issues section of the release notes point to a couple of problems that may be encountered on Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809):
“With Windows 10 October 2018, when recovering from hibernate, Amazon Prime video playback may become choppy and have audio corruption,” Intel says, while also adding that “when upgrading to Windows 10 October 2018, some installs may fail due to an Intel audio driver.”
The only good thing is that for the time being, Windows 10 version 1809 is no longer up for grabs due to a data removal bug, but if you’ve already installed it before it was pulled, you may want to think twice before updating your Intel drivers to this new version.
