Sources in Asia which supply parts to Apple have reportedly spilled the beans on the company’s plans to introduce a new type of “capacitive” Home button with the iPhone 5S that is said to bear a fingerprint sensor too.

According to TechNews, the enhancement will consist of a non-physical button with capacitive capabilities and a scratch-resistant sapphire surface.

Apple is known to have acquired AuthenTec, a company that specializes in biometrics technologies. At the time of the acquisition, rumors broke out that the Cupertino giant would incorporate fingerprint recognition in its future iPhones.

The source claims we should expect the iPhone 5S to arrive in the August-September timeframe along with the rumored low-cost iPhone.

Treat this tidbit as any other rumor that stands to be shot down by Apple’s iPhone 5S announcement. It is always good to take these stories with a grain of salt.
